Online Training Options
A1. Your Way: Inspire Visitors Through Participatory Interpretation
Discover the art of participatory interpretation, which enhances visitor engagement through hands-on activities, sensory experiences, and meaningful conversations. This self-paced online course, completed in approximately 8 hours, provides a comprehensive learning journey. Beginning with an introduction to the Miro whiteboard platform, the course covers techniques to boost audience participation using the PIE model—Participation, Information, and Encouragement—and hones conversation skills with the TALK model—Try Talk Types, Ask open-ended questions, Lead with Facilitation Techniques, and Keep on Inspiring. Each section is thoughtfully designed to offer an engaging and immersive educational experience.
Courses begin any day you choose and you have a 60-day window for completion. An initial (optional) 30 minute GoogleMeets session gives you a chance to meet the others in the course and test out Miro. Your course cohort may include interpreters from a wide variety of sites; giving you an opportunity for networking and shared learning. Dr. Jacquie will provide regular comments on the class whiteboard and be available via email for questions and support.

A2. Your Way: Making it Real
For those looking to advance their expertise, the Making It Real course is the next step. Building on the foundation of the initial 8-hour course, this additional 4-hour module focuses on designing participatory experiences tailored to your site. Using InterpActive's Recipe Card planning template, you'll receive guidance from Dr. Jacquie and collaborate with your cohort members for a supportive and enriching learning experience as you develop a site-specific program.
Courses begin any day you choose and you have a 60-day window for completion. Dr. Jacquie will provide regular comments on the class whiteboard and be available via email for questions and support. The course culminates with an optional synchronous session in which students share their program plans and feedback with each other.

A3. Your Way: Custom Online Training for Your Group
Our custom option allows you to tailor the online training experience to meet your group's specific needs. In this personalized, self-guided Miro-based course, your cohort will consist exclusively of your staff or volunteers. Together, they will progress through the Your Way: Inspire Visitors Through Participatory Interpretation and Making It Real course modules and activities, benefiting from Dr. Jacquie's weekly comments and feedback from colleagues.

Note: The first two Your Way options are ideal for individual participants, while the custom option is best suited for a group of interpreters from the same organization.
